Our Pastor

Rev. Dr. Geoffrey V. Guns is a native of Newport, Rhode Island. He is the son of Dr. Frank Guns, Sr. and the late Rev. Quincey C. Guns. He is a product of the Norfolk Public School System. He earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Norfolk State University in 1972 after which he served six years as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer.

In 1981, he earned his Masters of Divinity degree from the School of Theology, Virginia Union University graduating Summa Cum Laude. He earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from the School of Religion, Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1985.

Dr. Guns is the Senior Pastor of the Second Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia, where he has served since June 1983. Second Calvary is a leader in serving the community and in the area of global missions. He currently serves as State Director, Department of Christian Education of the Virginia Baptist State Convention, Inc. Dr. Guns co-founded the Norfolk Pastors’ Coalition in 2014 to lead local Baptist congregations in addressing urban social and economic problems.
