The Ministry of Nurture and Discipleship is all that we do as a congregation to stimulate lifelong learning and lasting spiritual growth and Christian commitment. It includes everything that we do as a congregation to provide, promote, and pay for a ministry of sound spiritual learning. It is our commitment to Christian discipleship development.

Discipleship is taking on the character and nature of Jesus Christ and becoming a learner of His ways, words, and will. Christian nurture is the process of helping persons to grow in such a way that they are formed in the very image of Jesus Christ.

Nurturing in the Word of God enables us to bear fruit for the Kingdom. Jesus said, “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that it may bear more fruit” (John 15:2).

Sunday School is the foundational strategy in a local church for leading people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for building mission-minded Christians through open Bible study groups that engage people in evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry and worship. At SCBC we meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am and provide classes for Adults, Couples, Children and Youth. We would love to see you there!
The New Members Class at SCBC exists to bring each member to spiritual maturity through Scripture, Worship, Relationships and Ministry. The class is an open-ended one, designed to promote spiritual growth among Christians who are new to the faith as well as those who have rededicated their lives through Experience of Grace. This course is beneficial to all Christians desiring to grow spiritually. The New Members Class is held on Sunday morning at 9:00 am.

1 Peter 2:9
Dates: July 23 -27, 2018

God still has a plan for this generation. We will learn how ordinary biblical characters became God’s special agents, using their personal skills, training, and resources to proclaim God by doing small things that had a mighty impact. As we investigate the needs of our communities, we can choose to become God’s solution by being Special Agents in Action!

As a result of experiencing these lessons, participants will…

  • Learn how to notice God sightings in our communities; Learn that being a special agent in action is to be BOLD for God ; Learn that God prepares us–by using our passions, talents, and training — to be His Special Agents in Action!
  • Classes are available for ALL age groups!

This ministry is designed to appeal to local college students to worship and fellowship with the members at Second Calvary Baptist Church.
